Preserving Toronto’s
Architectural Legacy.
We restore Victorian and Edwardian homes using traditional methods. Breathable lime mortars, reclaimed brick, and detail-driven craftsmanship.
The Science of
Historical Masonry
The most common mistake contractors make with Toronto homes built before 1930 is using Modern Portland Cement.
Historic bricks are soft and porous. They need to "breathe." Modern cement is too hard and traps moisture, causing the faces of your bricks to pop off "spalling" during freeze-thaw cycles.
- We use Traditional Lime Mortars that flex with your home.
- We match joint profiles (Flush, Recessed, Tuckpointed).
- We never use harsh sandblasting that damages the "skin" of the brick.
Restoration Methodology
A deliberate, slow approach to ensure integrity.
1. Diagnosis
We analyze the failure. Is it rising damp? Freeze-thaw cycles? Incompatible previous repairs? We identify the root cause before touching a brick.
2. Matching
We source reclaimed brick from the same era and laboratory-match the mortar composition (sand grain, color, and lime content).
3. Execution
Using traditional hand tools (no grinders on delicate joints), we restore the masonry to its original structural and aesthetic glory.
Scope of Work
We specialize in the specific needs of Toronto's Victorian, Edwardian, and Georgian architecture.
Do it once. Do it right.
A proper restoration lasts another 50 to 100 years. A cheap patch job lasts 5. Let’s discuss your property.
